Planning a trip to Małopolska region of Poland, it is worth considering a stay in a beautiful mountain place- Krynica Górska. The name of the town officially approved is Krynica-Zdrój. The town lies in the Beskid Sądecki in the Kryniczanka stream valley. It is surrounded by the hills of Góra Parkowa, Krzyżowa and Jasiennik. The town, famous for its healing properties, attracts not only tourists from Poland, but also from abroad. Hospitality of its residents makes you want to stay here longer. Thanks to the changing seasons, Krynica has a variety of attractions to offer. Other attractions will be waiting here for us in the summer and others in the winter. Krynica-Zdrój is currently a large center of spa and sanatorium treatment. Anyone who stays here will probably use the pump room for mineral and medicinal waters. The real development of the spa activity took place after 1856 due to the prof. Józef Dietl. Then, in 1877, famous hydrotherapist Henryk Ebers and geologist Rudolf Zuber came to Krynica, where as a result of deep drilling (810m)he discovered water, which is one of the strongest in Europe alkaline sorrel, also known as Zuber Water, of course. In the twentieth century, the health resort continued to grow rapidly and railroads were brought here. In 1911, Krynica received city rights. Before the outbreak of World War II, the city was visited by 38,000 people. Until 1945, it was under German occupation. The Germans took almost all the devices out of the city area, and the entering Red Army destroyed everything that was left. The city was revived in the late 1950s.
Today in Krynica we can use not only the spa, but also the typical mountain attractions. There are many interesting mountain trails with varying levels of difficulty. We can walk to the tops or take the cable. There is, for example, the longest gondola lift in Poland, where the bottom station is located in the Czarny Potok valley, and the final one in Jaworzyna top.
Krynica-Zdrój is a tourist resort, located in the Poprad Landscape Park and one of the largest winter sports centers. Skiing is popular here, which can be practiced on the slopes in Krynica-Słotwinach and on Jaworzyna, where the ski station is. There is also the Dwie Doliny Muszyna-Wierchomia resort nearby, and this is where the longest chairlift in Poland is located. In 2008, Wierchomla and Muszyna were connected with a system of 10 waterworks, which is a great attraction for tourists. Another winter sport in Krynica is ice hockey.
